The most famous stout in the world is the Guinness, and that's no coincidence. The Guinness family was brewing porters of different strength and used the term "stout" to label the strongest of those beers. They eventually started referring to their Extra Stout Porter as simply Extra Stout, and the popularity took off. Don't be intimidated by the name, though – there are all different kinds of stouts these days, some with complex flavors and low alcohol content, and we'd love to have you explore them at our place!

Burgers, brews, and football. Why would you go anywhere else this weekend?

A fun (but probably untrue) story is that porters came from London pub customers requesting a blending of freshly brewed beer, aged beer, and strong beer together. Pub owners got tired of mixing them, so they just started brewing a beer that had all three flavors, and the porter was born! Porters were George Washington's favorite style, but we'll let you try one of ours even if you're not the president. We'll have more fall beer facts for you in the coming weeks!

Tonight's $2 Mystery Pour from 7 - 10pm is....Stone Xocoveza! This insanely delicious take on Mexican hot chocolate is crafted with cocoa, coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. First brewed in 2014 with San Diego homebrewer Chris Banker after his recipe was named the winner of our annual homebrew competition, it quickly became a cross-country sensation as craft beer media and fans cheered for Stone Xocoveza…and clamored for more. We love this beer!
